Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
It praises disciplined observance (vrata) on an auspicious tithi across sacred months, emphasizing that steady devotion and restraint purify the soul (paśu) and dispose it toward Śiva’s grace (anugraha), central to Shaiva Siddhanta.
A vrata on specific lunar days is typically fulfilled through Saguna worship—such as Linga-pūjā with mantra and offerings—using time (kāla) as a sacred support to focus the mind on Śiva as Pati, the liberating Lord.
Observe a tṛtīyā vrata in the bright fortnight during the named months—commonly including purity, fasting or regulated diet, japa (e.g., Om Namaḥ Śivāya), and Linga worship with devotion.
