It highlights how even a deva can fall into pāśa (bondage) through desire; adharma produces immediate karmic consequence (the sage’s curse), pointing the seeker toward self-mastery and refuge in Pati (Shiva) as the liberator.
By showing the instability of worldly power and heavenly status, the verse redirects faith toward Saguna Shiva (worshipped as the Linga) as the steady refuge who purifies sin and grants inner restraint, leading beyond karmic reaction.
Practice japa of the Panchakshara mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with a vow of brahmacharya/self-restraint, and perform Tripuṇḍra bhasma-dhāraṇa as a daily reminder to conquer desire and remain established in dharma.
