By preserving sacred genealogy, the Purana shows how dharma is carried forward through disciplined lineages—supporting the Shaiva view that worldly order (dharma) becomes a foundation for turning the soul (paśu) toward the Lord (Pati) and liberation.
Though the verse is genealogical, the Shiva Purana frames righteous royal lines as protectors of Vedic-Shiva dharma; such stability enables public worship—temples, Linga-puja, vows, and festivals—through which devotees approach Saguna Shiva with devotion.
A practical takeaway is smaraṇa (recollection) with japa: remember dharmic exemplars while repeating the Panchakshara—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—as a daily discipline to align one’s lineage, duties, and inner life toward Shiva.
