यमस्तु कर्मणा तेन भृशं पीडितमानसः । धर्मेण रंजयामास धर्मराज इमा प्रजाः
yamastu karmaṇā tena bhṛśaṃ pīḍitamānasaḥ | dharmeṇa raṃjayāmāsa dharmarāja imā prajāḥ
しかしヤマは、その行いによって心を甚だしく悩まされつつも、のちにダルマ(法)によってこの衆生を喜ばせた。かくしてダルマラージャ(正義の主)は、法の規範により人々を導いた。

It highlights that even Dharmarāja acts under the higher order of dharma: when an act troubles the conscience, restoration comes through righteousness—aligning karma toward inner purity, which supports the soul’s gradual release from pasha (bondage).
In Shaiva understanding, worship of Saguna Shiva (including the Linga) is meant to refine conduct and consciousness; this verse reinforces that dharma is the lived expression of devotion, making the mind fit for Shiva’s grace (anugraha).
Practice daily self-review (dharma-vicāra) alongside Shiva-japa—especially the Panchakshara “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—so actions become dharmic and the mind becomes steady and clear.
