汝はかつて、その大いなる魂をもつバーナの物語を聞いたことがあるか。彼こそ戦場において、クリシュナを大いに歓ばせた勇者である。
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
The verse frames a sacred narrative as a means of transmitting dharma: even conflict becomes spiritually meaningful when it reveals divine intention, tests devotion, and culminates in grace (anugraha) rather than mere victory.
Though Shiva is not named in this single line, the Umāsaṃhitā commonly teaches Saguna devotion through stories: divine persons (like Kṛṣṇa) respond to conduct and devotion, paralleling how Saguna Shiva bestows favor when approached with right intent and surrender.
The practical takeaway is śravaṇa (devotional listening) and smaraṇa (remembrance) of Purāṇic kathā; as a Shaiva support-practice, one may pair this with japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” to internalize the lesson of grace and right action.
