पितृभ्यस्तु विनिक्षिप्य प्राच्यामर्यमणे ततः । धातुश्चैव विधातुश्च द्वारदेशे विनिःक्षिपेत्
pitṛbhyastu vinikṣipya prācyāmaryamaṇe tataḥ | dhātuścaiva vidhātuśca dvāradeśe viniḥkṣipet
まずピトリ(祖霊)に供えたのち、東方にアリヤマンのために置け。さらに、戸口のあたりにダートリとヴィダートリのための供物を置くべきである。
Suta Goswami (narrating the prescribed ritual order as taught in the Shiva Purana tradition)
Tattva Level: pasha
Offering: naivedya
It teaches that Shaiva worship is supported by dharmic order: honoring the Pitṛs and cosmic regulators (Aryaman, Dhātṛ, Vidhātṛ) purifies the worshipper’s obligations, making the mind fit to approach Pati (Shiva) with steadiness and reverence.
Such placements are part of the outer discipline (bahir-ācāra) that steadies the devotee before Linga worship; in Shaiva Siddhanta, correct observance helps loosen pasha (bondage) by cultivating purity, gratitude, and right orientation prior to focusing on Shiva as the supreme Lord.
It suggests a structured offering sequence with directional placement—first to the Pitṛs, then to Aryaman in the east, and then to Dhātṛ and Vidhātṛ near the threshold—performed with mental recollection of order (niyama) and sanctity before proceeding to the main Shiva worship.
