स इत्थं निर्जितककुबेकराड् विषयान्प्रियान् । यथोपजोषं भुंजानो नातृप्यदजितेन्द्रियः

Transliteration

sa itthaṃ nirjitakakubekarāḍ viṣayānpriyān | yathopajoṣaṃ bhuṃjāno nātṛpyadajitendriyaḥ

Translation

かくして、四方の支配者たちを征服し、愛する享楽の対象を得た後でさえ、彼は思うままにそれらを貪り楽しんだ。だが、インドリヤ（諸感官）を制し得なかったため、ついに満足を得ることはなかった。シャイヴァの立場では、インドリヤの克服なき外的勝利は śānti をもたらさず、ただシヴァへのバクティと内なる節制のみが解脱へと導く。
