Bāṇāsura’s Wrathful Command and the Onset of Battle at the Inner Palace
aniruddha uvāca | śaraṇye devi baddhosmi dahyamānastu pannagaiḥ | āgaccha me kuru trāṇaṃ yaśode caṃḍaroṣiṇi
Aniruddha
Tattva Level: pashu
Mantra: śaraṇye devi baddhosmi dahyamānastu pannagaiḥ | āgaccha me kuru trāṇaṃ yaśode caṃḍaroṣiṇi
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Durgā
Role: liberating
The verse highlights śaraṇāgati—taking refuge in the Divine when bound by fear and suffering—implying that liberation comes through grace when the soul (paśu) turns to higher protection beyond its own power.
Though addressed to the Goddess here, the mood is the same as Saguna worship in the Shiva Purana: the devotee calls upon a compassionate, responsive form of the Divine for immediate protection, mirroring how devotees approach Shiva’s Linga as a living refuge and giver of grace.
A practical takeaway is refuge-based japa: repeating a protective mantra (such as the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with heartfelt surrender, coupled with simple devotional prayer for deliverance from fear and bondage.
