It teaches that Śiva-bhakti leads to sadgati—the highest auspicious end—showing that devotion to Pati (Śiva) can uplift the bound soul (paśu) beyond worldly bonds (pāśa), even if one has experienced prosperity.
The verse highlights devotion to the Lord in a personal (saguṇa) mode—typical of Purāṇic worship such as Śiva-liṅga pūjā—where faithful service and surrender mature into grace and the soul’s final good.
The implied practice is steady Śiva-bhakti—regular liṅga worship with mantra-japa (especially Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), supported by traditional observances like bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa as aids to remembrance and devotion.
