サナトクマーラは語った。神々の哀れな言葉を聞くや、慈悲の大海たるマドゥスーダナ(ヴィシュヌ)は、雷鳴のごとく深く響く声で私に告げられた。
Sanatkumara
Tattva Level: pashu
It highlights the divine quality of karuṇā (compassion): when beings are overwhelmed and surrender their distress, higher guidance arises—here through Viṣṇu—ultimately serving the cosmic order that culminates in Śiva’s supremacy and protection of dharma.
Though the verse names Viṣṇu, the Shiva Purana’s theistic frame presents all divine interventions as aligned with Śiva’s will; devotion to Saguna Śiva (as the compassionate Lord) is reinforced by the theme that divine grace responds to sincere supplication.
A practical takeaway is heartfelt śaraṇāgati (taking refuge) with prayer; one may support this with japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” to steady the mind in संकट (crisis) and invoke Śiva’s grace.
