तत्र गत्वा स दूतस्तु सुधर्मां प्राप्य सत्वरम् । गर्वादखर्वमौलिर्हि देवेन्द्रं वाक्यमब्रवीत्

Tattva Level: pashu
The verse highlights how pride (garva/ahaṅkāra) colors speech and intention. In Shaiva Siddhānta, humility and alignment with Śiva’s will are prerequisites for grace; arrogant messaging foreshadows conflict and downfall.
Though not directly about Liṅga worship, it contrasts worldly authority (Indra’s court) with the higher sovereignty of Saguna Śiva who governs dharma and the fruits of karma. Devotional surrender to Śiva is presented as superior to pride in rank or power.
A practical takeaway is to counter pride through japa of the Pañcākṣarī—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—with a humble sankalpa, optionally applying tripuṇḍra (bhasma) as a reminder of impermanence and self-restraint in speech.
