Description of the Viṣṇu–Brahmā Dispute and Brahmā’s Confusion
सुश्वे ह्यनलप्रख्यो विश्वतः पक्षसंयुतः । मनोनिलजवो भूत्वा गत्वोर्द्ध्वं चोर्द्ध्वतः पुरा
suśve hyanalaprakhyo viśvataḥ pakṣasaṃyutaḥ | manonilajavo bhūtvā gatvorddhvaṃ corddhvataḥ purā
まことに彼は息を吐き出した。火のごとく燃え、四方に翼を備え、思いと風のように迅速となって、いにしえより上方へと昇り—絶えず高き界へと上昇した。
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Cosmic Event: mythic ascent toward higher lokas (ūrdhva-gamana)
The verse uses the imagery of fire-like brilliance and swift upward motion to signify the soul’s aspirational movement toward higher states of purity and consciousness, ultimately oriented to Pati (Shiva) as the supreme refuge beyond bondage (pāśa).
The upward ascent mirrors the devotee’s inner rise in Linga-worship—from external ritual to inward concentration—where Saguna Shiva is approached through form and symbol, leading the mind toward the transcendence that Shiva grants.
A practical takeaway is upward-moving japa and dhyāna: repeat the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with steady breath and visualize the awareness rising, supported by purity disciplines such as Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa as aids to focus.
