Nārada’s Austerities Described
विष्णुरुवाच । कुत आगम्यते तात किमर्थमिह चागतः । धन्यस्त्वं मुनिशार्दूल तीर्थोऽहं तु तवागमात्
viṣṇuruvāca | kuta āgamyate tāta kimarthamiha cāgataḥ | dhanyastvaṃ muniśārdūla tīrtho'haṃ tu tavāgamāt
Lord Vishnu
Tattva Level: pashu
Significance: The verse frames saintly presence (sat-saṅga) as itself a tīrtha-making power—pilgrimage becomes efficacious through contact with realized devotees.
It teaches that the presence of a realized sage sanctifies a place and elevates the seeker; in Shaiva understanding, such satsanga becomes a doorway (tīrtha) toward Shiva-oriented purity and liberation.
Though the verse is spoken by Viṣṇu, it supports the Purāṇic principle that holy contact and reverence prepare the mind for Saguna Shiva worship—approaching the Liṅga with humility, purity, and devotion.
Practice satsanga and tīrtha-sevā: respectfully receive and honor saintly visitors, listen to dharma teachings, and cultivate devotional humility—an inner discipline that supports mantra-japa and Shiva worship.
