यथा गृह्णातु कांतां स सुखी स्यां दुःखवर्जितः । दुर्लभस्य तु कामो मे परं मन्ये विचारतः
yathā gṛhṇātu kāṃtāṃ sa sukhī syāṃ duḥkhavarjitaḥ | durlabhasya tu kāmo me paraṃ manye vicārataḥ
「その愛しき御方が私を花嫁として受け入れてくだされば、私は幸いとなり、苦しみを離れよう。だが思案すれば、得難き御方に到らんとするこの願いは、あまりにも高邁である。」

Satī’s words show the soul’s (paśu’s) yearning for Pati (Śiva): true freedom from sorrow comes not from worldly gain but from being accepted by Śiva through devotion, purity, and His grace (anugraha).
Calling Śiva “durlabha” highlights that mere desire is insufficient; Saguna worship—such as reverence to the Śiva-liṅga with faith and discipline—becomes the practical means by which the devotee becomes fit for Śiva’s compassionate acceptance.
The takeaway is steadfast vrata-like resolve with japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and simple Śiva-pūjā (water, bilva leaves), cultivating inner purity so the devotee may be ‘accepted’ by Śiva.
