Consolation of the Devas and the Ordinance of Consequences in the Dakṣa-Yajña Episode
mayā duruktaviśikhaiḥ praviddhaḥ parameśvaraḥ | amarānatidīnāśān madanugrahakārakaḥ
Sati (addressing Lord Shiva in repentance)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: liberating
The verse highlights confession and humility: even when a devotee errs through harsh speech, Parameśvara’s nature is compassion (anugraha). In Shaiva Siddhanta terms, Shiva as Pati removes the soul’s impurities when sincere remorse and surrender arise.
It affirms Saguna Shiva as the approachable Lord who responds to devotion and repentance. Linga-worship embodies this mercy: the devotee offers apologies, praises, and service, trusting Shiva’s anugraha rather than one’s own merit.
Practice restrained speech and daily repentance before Shiva: recite the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), offer water and bilva to the Linga, and mentally seek forgiveness for hurtful words, praying for anugraha (grace).
