Devas and Śiva’s Gaṇas Engage in Battle
सर्वथा न ह्युपायोत्र केषांचिदपि तत्त्वतः । यज्ञविघ्नविनाशार्थ सत्यं सत्यं ब्रवीम्यहम्
sarvathā na hyupāyotra keṣāṃcidapi tattvataḥ | yajñavighnavināśārtha satyaṃ satyaṃ bravīmyaham
まことに、この事においては、本質的に、いかなる者にも他の手立てはまったくない。ヤジュニャ(祭祀)の障碍を滅するために、我は宣言する――これは真実、まさしく真実である。
Lord Shiva (Rudra)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
Role: destructive
The verse emphasizes that, at the deepest level, the decisive “means” is Shiva’s own grace (Pati-anugraha). When obstacles arise, human effort alone is secondary; surrender to Shiva is presented as the essential remedy.
In the Shiva Purana, obstacle-destruction is repeatedly linked to approaching Saguna Shiva through tangible devotion—especially worship of Shiva as the Linga—because the Linga is the accessible form through which Shiva’s protecting and removing power is invoked.
A practical takeaway is to seek vighna-nasha through Shiva-upasana: japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namah Shivaya) and focused prayer to Shiva before undertaking yajna or vows, asking directly for the removal of impediments.
