The verse shows how remembrance of one’s own karma can awaken deep remorse and detachment, which then turns the soul back toward Śiva—signaling an inner movement from worldly identification to seeking refuge in the Lord’s presence.
By returning to Śiva’s immediate presence (śiva-sannidhau), the narrative emphasizes approaching Saguna Śiva as the compassionate refuge; in practice, this is mirrored by coming before the Liṅga with humility, confession of faults, and renewed devotion.
A practical takeaway is repentance and inward recollection before worship—mentally reviewing one’s actions, then approaching Śiva with japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and a steady, subdued mind.
