Lord Shiva (Rudra)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: nurturing
The verse shows Shiva presenting household life as a dharmic instrument: a worthy consort is sought not for mere pleasure, but to sustain righteous action and inner steadiness—supporting the Shaiva aim of living in the world without bondage.
Here Shiva appears in a personal (saguṇa) mode, guiding cosmic order through Brahmā; devotion to Shiva includes honoring the roles he establishes—such as marriage and duty—while remembering Shiva as the inner Lord beyond all roles (liṅga as the sign of the Supreme).
The practical takeaway is “tac-cintā” (contemplation): steady remembrance of Shiva and his intent while performing one’s duties; this supports japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) alongside disciplined, dharmic conduct.
