विष्णोर्दर्शनं स्तुतिश्च
Viṣṇu’s Manifestation and Brahmā’s Hymn
दक्षमाज्ञापय ब्रह्मन् तपः कुर्य्यात्प्रयत्नतः । तामुत्पादयितुं पत्नीं शिवार्थं भक्तितत्स्वतः
dakṣamājñāpaya brahman tapaḥ kuryyātprayatnataḥ | tāmutpādayituṃ patnīṃ śivārthaṃ bhaktitatsvataḥ
Lord Śiva (inferred within Satīkhaṇḍa narrative as Śiva’s directive regarding Satī’s manifestation)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: liberating
The verse presents tapas (disciplined austerity) as a divinely sanctioned means for sacred outcomes, showing that devotion aligned with Śiva’s will can shape destiny—here, Satī’s manifestation for Śiva’s cosmic purpose.
It highlights Saguna Śiva’s līlā and governance of events: Śiva directs Brahmā to set in motion the conditions for His manifest union with Satī, reinforcing that personal devotion and divine intention operate within Śiva’s manifest order.
The direct practice indicated is tapas performed with steady effort; in Shaiva practice this is supported by bhakti, japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), and disciplined vows—especially meaningful in Mahāśivarātri observances.
