विष्णोर्दर्शनं स्तुतिश्च
Viṣṇu’s Manifestation and Brahmā’s Hymn
चक्रुस्ते विविधोपायान् निष्फला अभवंश्च ते । अभवत्तस्य संमोहो योगिनस्समदर्शिनः
cakruste vividhopāyān niṣphalā abhavaṃśca te | abhavattasya saṃmoho yoginassamadarśinaḥ
彼らはさまざまな手立てを尽くしたが、そのすべては実を結ばなかった。やがて、平等を観ずる心等しきヨーギーにさえ、迷いが生じた。

It shows that spiritual effort alone can become niṣphala (fruitless) when obscuring bonds (pāśa) like moha arise; in Shaiva Siddhanta, clarity and liberation mature through disciplined practice supported by Shiva’s anugraha (grace).
When methods fail and confusion rises, the Purana’s remedy is turning the mind toward Saguna Shiva—steady devotion to the Shiva-Linga, mantra, and remembrance—so practice is anchored in Pati (Shiva) rather than in technique alone.
A practical takeaway is to stabilize sādhanā with Shiva-oriented upāyas—japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), Linga-pūjā, and contemplative equanimity—so that moha does not derail yoga.
