Brahmā’s Enchantment by Desire during the Wedding Rites
ajñānatastvayi janairvikalpo vidito yataḥ | tasmādbhramapratīkāro nirupādherna hi svataḥ
Lord Shiva (in the Parvati Khanda’s philosophical instruction)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It teaches that bondage is caused by vikalpa—mental superimposition upon Shiva due to ignorance—so liberation comes by removing that delusion through true knowledge and inner discipline, not by attributing limitation to the nirupadhi Lord.
Saguna worship (Linga, mantra, pūjā) functions as a compassionate support to purify the mind and dissolve vikalpa, leading the devotee toward recognition of Shiva as ultimately nirguna/nirupadhi beyond all limiting adjuncts.
Steady japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with dhyāna on Shiva, supported by Shaiva disciplines like bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and rudrāksha, is implied as a practical countermeasure to bhrama.
