Menā’s Quest to Behold Śiva
Departure for Śiva’s Darśana
dṛṣṭvā sā taṃ tadā menā mahāharṣavatī mune | so'yaṃ śivāpatiḥ prāha tāṃ tu neti tvamabravīḥ

It contrasts heartfelt devotion (Menā’s joyful recognition of Śiva) with cautious discernment, reminding seekers that the Supreme Pati may not be grasped merely by first impressions; devotion must be joined with clear understanding of Shiva’s true nature and intent.
Menā’s recognition reflects Saguna-bhakti—seeing Śiva as the personal Lord and protector—while the reply “not so” hints that Śiva’s reality transcends ordinary identification, paralleling how the Liṅga signifies Shiva beyond limiting forms yet approachable through worship.
Cultivate steady Shiva-bhakti with the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” paired with mindful discernment (viveka); as a simple practice, japa with Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) remembrance can align devotion with right understanding.
