भृगुं पुरोधसं कृत्वा शतं यज्ञांश्चकार सः । न स्वीचकार शक्रत्वं दीयमानं सुरैरपि
bhṛguṃ purodhasaṃ kṛtvā śataṃ yajñāṃścakāra saḥ | na svīcakāra śakratvaṃ dīyamānaṃ surairapi
彼はブリグを祭官(プurohita)として立て、百のヤジュニャを修した。だが、神々がインドラの主権を授けようとしても、そのインドラ位を受け入れなかった。

The verse highlights vairāgya: even immense ritual merit and the highest celestial office (Indrahood) are still within saṃsāra. From a Shaiva Siddhānta lens, true fulfillment is not deva-status but turning toward Pati (Śiva) for liberation.
By refusing Indrahood, the narrative points beyond worldly and heavenly rewards toward devotion and surrender to Śiva as the supreme Lord. Such detachment is the inner qualification that makes Liṅga/Saguṇa-Śiva worship a path to grace rather than a means for temporary power.
Perform duties without craving their fruits (niṣkāma-bhāva), and anchor practice in Śiva-upāsanā—especially japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”)—so that merit supports purification rather than ambition.
