It highlights that true devotion is joined with inner discernment: even when Shiva appears in an ordinary guise, the devotee recognizes the Pati (Lord) within and responds with surrender and praise, a Shaiva Siddhanta emphasis on grace met by bhakti.
The verse reflects Saguna Shiva’s compassionate accessibility—He can be approached in a form (here, as a brāhmaṇa) and known inwardly; similarly, the Linga is a worshipful presence through which the devotee offers reverence while realizing Shiva as the indwelling Lord.
It suggests mānasa-pūjā (mental worship): recognize Shiva in the heart, bow with humility, and offer stuti (praise). A practical takeaway is daily japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with inward remembrance.
