प्रकृतितत्त्व-विचारः / Inquiry into Prakṛti (Nature/Śakti) and Śiva’s Transcendence
ब्रह्मोवाच । एतच्छ्रुत्वा वचस्तस्य देवदेवस्य शूलिनः । प्रणम्य हिमवाञ्छंभुमिदं वचनमब्रवीत्
brahmovāca | etacchrutvā vacastasya devadevasya śūlinaḥ | praṇamya himavāñchaṃbhumidaṃ vacanamabravīt
ブラフマーは言った。神々の神、三叉戟を執る主のその御言葉を聞くや、ヒマヴァーンはシャンブーに礼拝して、次のように申し上げた。
Brahma
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
The verse highlights śravaṇa (reverent listening) followed by praṇāma (humble surrender) as the proper Shaiva response to the Lord’s instruction—devotion expressed through humility becomes the doorway to Śiva’s grace.
By calling Śiva “Devadeva” and “Śūlin,” the text emphasizes Saguna Shiva—approachable through names, forms, and attributes—whom devotees honor through reverence, prostration, and obedient acceptance of his word, the same spirit that underlies Liṅga-pūjā.
A practical takeaway is to begin worship with attentive listening/recitation of Śiva-kathā or mantra, then perform praṇāma before the Liṅga; mentally affirm surrender (śaraṇāgati) while repeating “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
