Deliberation on the Marriages of Gaṇeśa and Ṣaṇmukha
brahmovāca | ityevaṃ vacanaṃ śrutvā gaṇeśasya mahātmanaḥ | mahābuddhinidhiṃ taṃ tau pitarāvūcatustadā
Brahma
Tattva Level: pashu
The verse highlights reverence for enlightened speech: even divine parents pause, listen, and respond to Gaṇeśa’s wise counsel, modeling humility and dharmic discernment valued in Shaiva tradition.
By praising Gaṇeśa—intimately connected with Śiva’s household—the text reinforces Saguna devotion: honoring Śiva’s divine family and their virtues (wisdom, right judgment) as part of approaching Śiva-bhakti and auspicious worship.
A practical takeaway is śravaṇa (attentive listening) before action—begin worship by invoking Gaṇeśa for clarity, then proceed with Śiva-upāsanā such as japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with a steady, discerning mind.
