द्वारपाल-गणेशसंवादः / The Dialogue at the Gate: Gaṇeśa and Śiva’s Gaṇas
दूरतः क्रियतां ह्येष द्रारपालो नवीनकः । क्लीबा इव स्थितास्तस्य वृत्तं वदथ मे कथम्
dūrataḥ kriyatāṃ hyeṣa drārapālo navīnakaḥ | klībā iva sthitāstasya vṛttaṃ vadatha me katham
「この新しい門番を遠くへ退けよ。なぜお前たちは臆する者のように彼の前に立っているのだ。告げよ――彼はどうしたのか。」
Kārttikeya (Skanda)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
The verse highlights a Shaiva ethical ideal: devotees and dharmic attendants should not be overpowered by fear or social intimidation. Courage and clarity are presented as supports for right action in service of Shiva’s order (dharma).
In Saguna Shiva worship, devotion is expressed through disciplined service, protection of sacred space, and truthful reporting of events. The verse reflects maintaining purity and order around holy presence rather than being shaken by external authority or a mere functionary.
The practical takeaway is fearlessness grounded in mantra-bhakti—steady japa of the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and maintaining sāttvika discipline (such as Tripuṇḍra/bhasma and respectful conduct) to keep the mind firm and undistracted.
