स्वात्मजं स्वांकमारोप्य कुमारं सूर्यवर्चसम् । लालयामास सुप्रीत्या शिवा च स्नेहसंकुला
svātmajaṃ svāṃkamāropya kumāraṃ sūryavarcasam | lālayāmāsa suprītyā śivā ca snehasaṃkulā
シヴァー(パールヴァティー)は、太陽のごとく輝くわが子クマーラを膝に抱き、あふれる慈愛に満ちて、大いなる歓喜のうちに撫でさすり、いとおしく慈しんだ。
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: nurturing
It presents divine motherhood as sacred bhakti: the Goddess’s tender love for Kumāra shows that grace and spiritual nourishment can flow through pure affection, sanctifying family life as a path aligned with Śiva’s order (dharma).
The verse emphasizes Saguna devotion—Śiva’s reality expressed through divine forms and relationships. Such līlā supports Linga worship by showing that the formless Lord is also approached through loving contemplation of His manifest family (Śiva-Śivā and their divine child).
A simple takeaway is mānasa-bhakti: meditate on the compassionate presence of Śiva and Śivā as protective parents; accompany it with japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” to cultivate warmth, steadiness, and surrender.
