Sukta 7.56

Rishi: Vasiṣṭha (Vasiṣṭha-gotra, traditional ascription for Maṇḍala 7)
Devata: Maruts (Rudra’s storm-host; also called Vasavas)
Chandas: Triṣṭubh (11-syllable pādas; typical for RV 7.56)

अत्यासो न ये मरुतः स्वञ्चो यक्षदृशो न शुभयन्त मर्याः । ते हर्म्येष्ठाः शिशवो न शुभ्रा वत्सासो न प्रक्रीळिनः पयोधाः ॥

atyā́so na ye marútaḥ sváñco yakṣá-dṛśo na śubháyanta máryāḥ | te harmyéṣṭhāḥ śíśavo na śubhrā́ vatsā́so na prákrīḷinaḥ payodhā́ḥ ||

疾走する競走者のように、マルット(Maruts)は自らの力により進み、驚異の幻視のごとく輝き出でる。若き勇士らは存在を美しく飾る。家にいる子らのように清らかに明るく、乳に富む戯れる仔牛のように、彼らはわれらの内に養いの力を注ぎ満たす。
