कामस्तदग्रे समवर्तताधि मनसो रेतः प्रथमं यदासीत् । सतो बन्धुमसति निरविन्दन्हृदि प्रतीष्या कवयो मनीषा ॥
Transliteration
kā́mas tád ágre sám avartatā́dhi mánaso rétaḥ prathamáṃ yád āsīt | sató bándhum ásati nír avindan hṛdí pratī́ṣyā kaváyo manīṣā́ ||
Translation
欲（kāma）は初めにそれの上に起こった――それは意（manas）の最初の種子であった。詩聖（kavi）たちは思慮（manīṣā）をもって心中に探り、無（asat）のうちに有（sat）の絆（bandhu）を見いだした。
