उषा उच्छन्ती समिधाने अग्ना उद्यन्त्सूर्य उर्विया ज्योतिरश्रेत् । देवो नो अत्र सविता न्वर्थं प्रासावीद्द्विपत्प्र चतुष्पदित्यै ॥
Transliteration
uṣā́ ucchántī samidhāné agnā́ udyánt sū́rya urviyā́ jyótir aśret | devó no átra savitā́ nvàrthaṁ prā́sāvīd dvipát prá cátuṣpad ítyai ||
Translation
曙光は昇り、われらのうちにアグニ（Agni）を燃え立たせる。太陽は上りて、広大なる光を注ぎ出した。ここに神サヴィトリ（Savitṛ）は、いまわれらのために真の目的を駆り立てた——われらの存在における二足のものも四足のものも、正しい成就へと前進せしめんがために。
