The Slaying of Makarākṣa
राघवेणैवमुक्तस्तुमकराक्षोमहाबलः ।बाणौघानमुचत्तस्मैराघवायरणाजिरे ।।।।
rāghaveṇaivam uktaḥ tu makarākṣo mahābalaḥ |
bāṇaughān amucat tasmai rāghavāya raṇājire ||
戦場でラाघヴァにそう言われるや、大力のマカラークシャは、ラーマに向けて矢の密なる雨を放った。
Spoken in that manner by Raghava in the battlefield, Maka raksha, endowed with extraordinary strength, released a volley of arrows on Rama.
It marks the shift from speech to action, reflecting the epic’s insistence that conflict must be met with disciplined response, not disorder.
Makarākṣa answers Rāma’s rebuke by initiating an arrow assault.
