The Slaying of Kumbhakarna
स चापमादायभुजङ्गकल्पंधृढज्यमुग्रंतपनीयचित्रम् ।हरीन् समाश्वास्यसमुत्पपातरामोनिबद्धोत्तमतूणबाणः ।।।।
sa cāpam ādāya bhujaṅgakalpaṁ dhṛḍhajyam ugraṁ tapanīyacitram | harīn samāśvāsya samutpapāta rāmo nibaddhottamatūṇabāṇaḥ ||
蛇のごとき姿の弓を取り、弦を固く張り、猛々しく黄金の輝きに彩られたそれを携え、ラーマはヴァーナラたちを励まして前へ躍り出た。優れた矢で満ちた矢筒をしっかりと帯びて。
Rama, taking a formidable bow which resembled a great serpent, with a quiver full of excellent arrows shining in gold that looked beautiful, went forward restoring the confidence of the monkeys.
Dharma is protective action joined with compassion: Rama advances to fight, but first steadies and reassures those overwhelmed by fear.
Rama arms himself and moves to confront the powerful enemy, while restoring the confidence of the Vanara forces.
Compassionate valor—strength used in service of truth and protection, not for rage or display.
