The Slaying of Dhumrākṣa
ध्वजैर्विमथितैर्भग्नैःखङ्गैश्चविनिपातितैः ।रथैर्विध्वंसितैश्चापिपतितैःरजनीचरैः ।।6.52.12।।
dhvajair vimathitair bhagnaiḥ khaṅgaiś ca vinipātitaiḥ |
rathair vidhvaṃsitaiś cāpi patitaiḥ rajanīcaraiḥ || 6.52.12 ||
旗印は砕け折れ、剣に打ち倒され、戦車は破壊され、夜の徘徊者たちは倒れ伏し、戦場は破滅の残骸で満ちた。
Indeed, the night rangers were killed, their flags were broken. They were crushed, their swords were destroyed with chariots fallen.
Adharma’s outward power—symbols, weapons, and war-machines—cannot endure when opposed by a steadfast righteous cause; collapse follows moral disorder.
The narration summarizes the rākṣasa losses in matériel and men, portraying a battlefield overwhelmed by destruction.
