समुद्रतट-प्रयाणम् तथा वेलावन-निवेशः
March to the Seacoast and Encampment at the Shore
वृक्षेभ्योऽन्ये तु कपयो नदन्तो मधुदर्पिताः ।अन्ये वृक्षान्प्रपद्यन्ते प्रपिबन्त्यपि चापरे ।।।।
vṛkṣebhyo 'nye tu kapayo nadanto madhudarpitāḥ |
anye vṛkṣān prapadyante prapibanty api cāpare ||
ある猿たちは蜜の酔いに浮かれて木々を離れ、叫びつつさまよい、またある者は木に駆け上り、さらに別の者は跳びはねては幾度も蜜を飲んだ。
While some monkeys that were intoxicated by drinking excessive honey walked where there were no trees, others climbed the tree tops and jumped.
Dharma warns against intoxication and heedlessness, which cloud judgment and disrupt right conduct.
The vānaras split into groups—some shouting and wandering, some climbing trees, others repeatedly drinking—under the influence of honey.
Sobriety and steadiness (sthāiratā/apramāda) are implied as essential virtues for those engaged in a righteous mission.
