Vibhīṣaṇa’s Arrival and the Debate on Refuge
इत्युक्त्वापरुषंवाक्यंरावणंरावणानुजः ।आजगाममुहूर्तेनयत्ररामस्सलक्ष्मणः ।।6.17.1।।
ityuktvā paruṣaṃ vākyaṃ rāvaṇaṃ rāvaṇānujaḥ | ājagāma muhūrtena yatra rāmas salakṣmaṇaḥ ||
これらの厳しい言葉をラーヴァナに告げると、ラーヴァナの弟ヴィビーシャナは、ラクシュマナと共に在すラーマのもとへ、瞬く間に到来した。
Vibheeshana, having addressed Ravana in harsh language, reached Rama and Lakshmana in a short while.
The younger brother of Ravana referred to here is Vibhishana, who chose the path of Dharma over family loyalty to an unrighteous brother.
Vibhishana's departure signifies the ethical principle that one must abandon even a brother if he persists in Adharma (unrighteousness), seeking instead the company of the righteous (Rama).
