Survey of the Aśoka Grove and its Enchanted Landscape
कृत्रिमां दीर्घिकां चापि पूर्णां शीतेन वारिणा।मणिप्रवरसोपानां मुक्तासिकतशोभिताम्।।5.14.33।।विविधैर्मृगसङ्घैश्च विचित्रां चित्रकाननाम्।प्रासादैस्सुमहद्भिश्च निर्मितैर्विश्वकर्मणा।।5.14.34।।काननैः कृत्रिमैश्चापि सर्वतः समलङ्कृताम्।
kṛtrimāṃ dīrghikāṃ cāpi pūrṇāṃ śītena vāriṇā |
maṇipravarasopānāṃ muktāsikataśobhitām || (5.14.33)
vividhair mṛgasaṅghaiś ca vicitrāṃ citrakānanām |
prāsādaiḥ sumahadbhiś ca nirmitair viśvakarmaṇā || (5.14.34)
kānanaiḥ kṛtrimaiś cāpi sarvataḥ samalaṅkṛtām ||
ここでは、造りの長池とその周囲の描写が重ねて語られる。冷ややかな水が満ち、宝石を嵌めた階と、真珠のように輝く砂がある。さまざまな獣の群れ、彩り豊かな林、そしてヴィシュヴァカルマンが築いたかのような大宮殿が四方を飾っていた。
There the trees had abundance of flowers and fruits. A few trees were full of leaves and branches spread like parasols. There were raised golden platforms.
Repetition reinforces the teaching: external magnificence does not define righteousness; steadfast pursuit of a just aim does.
A parallel transmission repeats the scenic catalogue of Laṅkā’s engineered splendour as Hanumān moves through the area.
Dhṛti (firm resolve): the narrative lingers on beauty, yet Hanumān’s purpose remains unchanged.
