Genealogy of the Ikshvaku Line and the Proposal for Marriage
कुक्षेरथात्मज: श्रीमान् विकुक्षिरुदपद्यत।विकुक्षेस्तु महातेजा बाण: पुत्र: प्रतापवान्।।1.70.23।।
kukṣer atha ātmajaḥ śrīmān vikukṣir udapadyata |
vikukṣeḥ tu mahātejā bāṇaḥ putraḥ pratāpavān || 1.70.23 ||
ついでククシに、栄えある子ヴィククシが生まれた。さらにヴィククシには、大いなる威光を備えた勇猛の子バーナが生まれ、その武勇で名高い。
It may be noted that Ikshvaku was the first ancestral king of Ayodhya whose son was the well-known, glorious Kukshi.
Dharma is presented as dynastic continuity paired with merit: the line progresses through named heirs, and royal power is ideally joined with valor under moral order.
Vasiṣṭha continues enumerating the Ikṣvāku successors from Kukṣi to Vikukṣi to Bāṇa.
Pratāpa (valor/majestic power) as a kingly excellence, meant to serve dharma rather than ego.
