The Virtues of Daśaratha’s Ministers and the Order of Governance
गुरोर्गुणगृहीताश्च प्रख्याताश्च पराक्रमे ।विदेशेष्वपि विज्ञातास्सर्वतो बुद्धिनिश्चयात् ।।।।
guror guṇagṛhītāś ca prakhyātāś ca parākrame | videśeṣv api vijñātāḥ sarvato buddhiniścayāt ||
彼らは師長の徳を身に受け、武勇に名高かった。あらゆる事において確かな判断を備え、異国にまでその名が知られていた。
They imbibed virtues from the elderlies. They were renowned in prowess. They were guided by their intellect in all affairs. They were well-known everywhere.
Right governance is sustained by learning virtues from elders and applying decisive intelligence; dharma is transmitted through exemplars (guru) and realized through wise action.
The narrator underscores the ministers’ credibility and reputation, showing why the kingdom was respected beyond its borders.
