Trishanku’s Bodily Ascent and the New Constellations
पश्य मे तपसो वीर्यं स्वार्जितस्य नरेश्वर ।एष त्वां सशरीरेण नयामि स्वर्गमोजसा।।।।दुष्प्रापं सशरीरेण दिवं गच्छ नराधिप।
paśya me tapaso vīryaṃ svārjitasya nareśvara |
eṣa tvāṃ saśarīreṇa nayāmi svargam ojasā ||
duṣprāpaṃ saśarīreṇa divaṃ gaccha narādhipa ||
「王よ、我が自ら得た苦行(タパス)の威力を見よ。この力によって、そなたをその身のまま天界へ運ぼう。行け、人々の主よ――肉身のまま天へ昇ることは、きわめて得難い。」
"O King! behold the prowess of my self-earned asceticism. With my spiritual might, I shall send you to heaven with your physical body O King! go to heaven with physical body which is not possible for anybody to accomplish.
It teaches the gravity of a vow and truthfulness in commitment: Viśvāmitra stands by the refuge-seeker, asserting that disciplined tapas can uphold a pledged outcome even against opposition.
After the gods refuse to attend the sacrifice, Viśvāmitra declares the power of his austerities and promises to send Triśaṅku to heaven in his physical body.
Viśvāmitra’s unwavering resolve and protective fidelity—his insistence on fulfilling what he has undertaken for Triśaṅku.
