The Sound-Target Tragedy, the Sage’s Curse, and Dasaratha’s Death
स कृत्वा तूदकं तूर्णं तापस स्सह भार्यया।मामुवाच महातेजाः कृताञ्जलिमुपस्थितम्।।।।
sa kṛtvā tūḍakaṃ tūrṇaṃ tāpasaḥ saha bhāryayā | mām uvāca mahātejāḥ kṛtāñjalim upasthitam ||
妻と共に葬送の水供養を速やかに終えた後、光り輝く苦行者は、合掌して彼の前に立つ私に語りかけた。
The radiant ascetic along with his wife hurriedly completed the funeral libations and said to me standing with folded palms:
Dharma joins ritual duty with moral accountability: after completing rites, the ascetic turns to address the responsible agent, establishing ethical consequence.
The ascetic finishes the funeral libations and then speaks directly to Daśaratha, who stands with folded hands.
Daśaratha’s humility and readiness to receive judgment (kṛtāñjali—supplication and acknowledgment).
