Prayaga-mahatmya
Glory of Prayaga and the Magha Bath at Triveni
तत्र दृष्ट्वा तु तत्तीर्थं प्रयागं परमं पदम् । मुच्यन्ते सर्वपापेभ्यः शशांक इव राहुणा ॥ ५८ ॥
tatra dṛṣṭvā tu tattīrthaṃ prayāgaṃ paramaṃ padam | mucyante sarvapāpebhyaḥ śaśāṃka iva rāhuṇā || 58 ||
そこにて、その聖なるティールタ—プラヤーガ、至上の住処—をただ拝するだけで、人々は一切の罪より解き放たれる。あたかも月がラーフの掴みから放たれるがごとく。

Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It declares Prayāga as a supreme tīrtha whose mere darśana (seeing/visiting) destroys accumulated sin (pāpa), emphasizing the purifying power of sacred geography in the Uttara-bhāga.
By praising Prayāga as “parama pada,” it frames pilgrimage and reverent darśana as supportive limbs of bhakti—approaching the holy place with faith, humility, and remembrance of the divine brings inner purification.
The verse uses an astronomical-puranic image (Rāhu seizing the Moon) that aligns with Jyotiṣa-style symbolism, reinforcing how cosmic motifs are employed to teach moral purification (pāpa-kṣaya) through tīrtha-darśana.
