FAQs

It highlights a dharmic appeal grounded in compassion (dayā) and restraint—requesting the other to desist from a harmful or deluding course, a common Purāṇic ethic for restoring right conduct.

Indirectly, it supports bhakti-based virtue: compassion, humility, and self-control are treated as supportive qualities for steady devotion, even when the narrative focus is on moral persuasion rather than explicit worship.

No direct Vedāṅga (Śikṣā, Vyākaraṇa, Chandas, Nirukta, Kalpa, Jyotiṣa) instruction appears in this verse; it functions primarily as narrative dharma—an ethical plea emphasizing dayā and nivṛtti (turning back from wrongdoing).
