The Discourse of Rukmāṅgada
Prabodhinī Ekādaśī, Kārtika-vrata, and Satya-dharma
भर्तुः सौख्येन या नारी दुःखयुक्ता प्रजायते । सा तु श्येनी भवेद्राजंस्त्रीणि वर्षाणि पञ्च च ॥ ११ ॥
bhartuḥ saukhyena yā nārī duḥkhayuktā prajāyate | sā tu śyenī bhavedrājaṃstrīṇi varṣāṇi pañca ca || 11 ||
王よ、夫が安楽であるにもかかわらず悲しみに沈んで生きる女は、鷹(śyenī)として三年、さらに五年のあいだ再生する。
Narada
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhayanaka
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It presents a karma-based ethic: inner disposition and how one responds to favorable life circumstances shape future births, illustrating moral causality (karma → yoni) as a dharma teaching.
Indirectly, it supports bhakti by warning against persistent grief and dissatisfaction that obscure gratitude and sattva; cultivating contentment and devotion-oriented remembrance steadies the mind and aligns conduct with dharma.
No specific Vedanga technique is taught in this verse; it functions as a dharma-śāstra style karmic rule (ethical instruction) rather than a lesson in Vyākaraṇa, Jyotiṣa, or ritual procedure.
