The Greatness of Kārtika

愛しき者よ、望む誓戒のあいだ神々の मंदिरにて常に灯明を供える者は、まことにギー(澄ましバター)を満たした金または銅の灯を捧げるに等しい。

Vrata: none
Rasa: {"primary_rasa":"bhakti","secondary_rasa":"shanta","emotional_journey":"A tender exhortation (‘priye’) moves from steady daily practice to the luminous offering of a ghee lamp, intensifying devotion through ritual light."}
It elevates dīpa-dāna (offering a lamp) as a steady, vrata-linked act of merit in temple worship, emphasizing purity (ghee) and intentional devotion through regular practice.
By prescribing a simple, repeatable temple offering—lighting and gifting a ghee lamp—it frames bhakti as consistent seva (service) expressed through tangible worship during vowed observances.
Ritual procedure (kalpa/ācāra) is implied: proper dāna in a sacred space (surālaya), selection of suitable materials (gold/copper), and the prescribed fuel (ghee) for a lamp-offering.
