The Greatness of Kārtika
दद्याद्भूशयने शय्यां तूलिकागंडकान्विताम् । पत्रभोजी नरोदद्याद्भाजनं घृतसंयुतम् ॥ ७२ ॥
dadyādbhūśayane śayyāṃ tūlikāgaṃḍakānvitām | patrabhojī narodadyādbhājanaṃ ghṛtasaṃyutam || 72 ||
地に寝る者は、敷き布団と抱え枕を備えた寝台を布施すべきである。葉の皿で食する者は、相応しい器を、ギー(ghṛta)を添えて施すべきである。

It teaches proportional, empathetic giving: one should donate what directly alleviates the same hardship one endures—turning personal austerity into compassionate dharma that yields puṇya.
In the Purāṇic view, dāna performed in a sattvic spirit supports Vishnu-oriented dharma; offering necessities like bedding and food-vessels becomes a practical expression of bhakti through service and care for beings.
Primarily Kalpa (ritual procedure) in the form of dāna-vidhi—practical rules about appropriate gifts and their proper accompaniment (e.g., a vessel given along with ghṛta).
