Kārtika-Māhātmya
The Greatness of Kārtika
दृष्ट्वा कोकवराहं वा न भूयस्तनयो भवेत् । त्रिविधस्यापि पापस्य दृष्ट्वा मुक्तिर्भवेन्नृणाम् ॥ ५२ ॥
dṛṣṭvā kokavarāhaṃ vā na bhūyastanayo bhavet | trividhasyāpi pāpasya dṛṣṭvā muktirbhavennṛṇām || 52 ||
コーカ・ヴァラーハ(コーカに現れるヴァラーハ)を拝したなら、もはや人の子として再び生まれない。見るだけで、人は三種の罪からさえ解脱を得る。
Narada (teaching in a tirtha-mahatmya narration)
Vrata: none
Rasa: {"primary_rasa":"bhakti (devotion)","secondary_rasa":"shanta (peace)","emotional_journey":"A promise of finality: from fear of repeated birth and sin to serene assurance of liberation through Varāha-darśana."}
It declares the extraordinary purifying power of tirtha-darśana: seeing Koka-Varāha (Vishnu as Varāha) is said to destroy even threefold sin and lead toward liberation, emphasizing grace received through sacred vision.
Bhakti is expressed here as darśana-centered devotion—approaching and beholding the Lord’s form at a holy site. The verse presents the Lord’s compassionate accessibility, where sincere contact (seeing) becomes a direct means of spiritual uplift.
No specific Vedāṅga (like Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa) is taught in this verse; the practical takeaway is tirtha-yātrā and darśana as a Purāṇic religious practice for pāpa-kṣaya and mokṣa-oriented merit.
