FAQs

This verse highlights dāna as a concrete expression of dharma: the act of giving—here on a grand scale—functions as a merit-generating (puṇya) deed that supports righteous order and elevates the giver’s spiritual standing.

While not explicitly naming bhakti, the verse reflects a bhakti-aligned ethic: offering one’s resources selflessly. In Purāṇic teaching, such generosity becomes a supportive limb (aṅga) of devotion by reducing possessiveness and aligning worldly power with dharmic purpose.

No specific Vedāṅga (like Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa) is directly taught in this verse; the practical takeaway is dharma-śāstric: the proper performance of dāna (charity/grants) as a recognized religious duty in Purāṇic and smṛti-aligned practice.
