FAQs

This verse establishes Narada’s humility and reverence toward the exalted sages, recognizing them as spiritually accomplished and firmly rooted in devotion to Bhagavan—setting the tone for receiving authoritative dharma and bhakti instruction.

Bhakti is presented as the defining excellence of the greatest sages: they are ‘bhagavad-bhakti-tatparāḥ’—single-mindedly dedicated to devotion—implying that true knowledge and spiritual authority culminate in loving service to the Lord.

No specific Vedanga (such as Śikṣā, Vyākaraṇa, Chandas, Nirukta, Kalpa, or Jyotiṣa) is taught in this verse; instead, it frames the credentials of the teachers—omniscience and devotion—before technical or ritual instruction is given.
