Bhāgīratha’s Bringing of the Gaṅgā
श्री भगवानुवाच । भगीरथ महाभाग तवाभीष्टं भविष्यति । आगमिष्यन्ति मल्लोकं तव पूर्वपितामहाः ॥ ७० ॥
śrī bhagavānuvāca | bhagīratha mahābhāga tavābhīṣṭaṃ bhaviṣyati | āgamiṣyanti mallokaṃ tava pūrvapitāmahāḥ || 70 ||
至上主は仰せになった。「おお、幸いなるバギーラタよ。汝の望みは必ず成就する。汝の先祖たちは、わが世界へと来たるであろう。」
Śrī Bhagavān (the Lord)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It presents Bhagavān’s assurance that sincere effort aligned with dharma bears fruit, culminating in upliftment of one’s lineage and attainment of the Lord’s realm through divine grace.
By showing that the Lord personally responds and grants the devotee’s rightful aim; the promise “they will come to My world” underscores bhakti’s core teaching—dependence on Bhagavān’s compassion as the decisive factor.
No specific Vedāṅga technique is taught in this verse; practically, it supports Pitṛ-related dharma (ancestral rites and offerings) by affirming that such acts, when rightly undertaken, yield definite spiritual results.
